Supporting Centers During the Pandemic

Support Centers Impacted by the Pandemic
As COVID-19 continues to impact the ability for Vipassana centers in North America to offer courses, the Vipassana Community Foundation (VCF) has set up a special COVID-19 fund for old students concerned about how centers have been impacted during the pandemic. When an old student makes a tax-deductible donation to the VCF COVID-19 fund, their donation goes to support the centers that are facing the greatest financial hardship.
In order to ensure that donations are directed to centers with the greatest need, VCF is creating an application process for centers in North America. The process will be overseen by senior Vipassana Teachers, so financial support can be quickly disbursed to where it’s most needed. This way, when an old student makes a donation, they can be confident that it will go to support a center that needs the assistance to weather the pandemic.
While centers are largely volunteer run, they still have fixed expenses in the form of mortgage payments, utilities, maintenance expenses and insurance bills. Different Vipassana centers have different bases of support, with some struggling more than others.
As some centers start to reopen, due to public health concerns, the courses that they are able to offer will only serve a fraction of the students that they could previously accommodate. For this reason, centers anticipate an ongoing inability to cover fixed expenses.
Donations of any amount are welcome, and as on courses, what matters most is the volition to continue to provide coming students with the opportunity to practice Vipassana. To learn more about how you can help, please visit:
