Dāna – The Parami of Generosity
Dhamma’s value is priceless and should be available to all who want to receive and practice it, regardless of income. Donations from those who have completed a ten-day course of Vipassana Meditation as taught by S. N. Goenka in the tradition of Sayagyi U Ba Khin are the only source of funding for courses in this tradition around the world. Each center is financially independent and all donations made to BAVC are used solely for Vipassana related activities in the Bay Area. Your volition to help will accelerate the growth of Dhamma in the Bay Area.
Donation transactions will likely appear from “Bay Area Vipassana Center” and may include the Tax Identification Number (EIN): 47-0982918). All donations are tax deductible. Upon request, we will mail you a receipt for your records (monthly or other recurring donation receipts would be send at the end of the year).
How dana is used
When making a donation, one may annotate the dana for either of the following categories: Center Land Development, Occidental Course, BAVC General, Either of the Halls (South Bay Vipassana Hall or East Bay Vipassana Hall) or Children’s Courses. Unless otherwise stated donations received will go into the general fund which covers BAVC’s activities.
Dhamma Santosa’s financial resources are managed by a board of directors, known as “the Trust,” which is a group of old students appointed by the area teachers. The Trustees may reallocate money from one category to another as necessary to maintain the financial health of the center.
